My Adventures as a Spy eBook Robert BadenPowell
This book will give you the feel of being a real spy without the modern hype. If you're a spy buff like me, this will allow you to understand how SIMPLE it is to do basic field work. Baden-Powell talks about how you're basically an army scout, but dressed in civvies. Forget the fancy communication and photographic techniques. Just get your mission tasking and go for a nice quiet stroll, no silenced pistols or sykes-fairbarne daggers. I really appreciated the KISS principles he lays out.Product details

My Adventures as a Spy eBook Robert BadenPowell Reviews
I've been in Scouting 58 years now and its interesting to read things from Robert Baden-Powell and get the feel of his life. Really interesting to see the background that lead to Scouting.
Read this book for what it is, knowing that it was written in the '30's and '40's, it is an interesting historical insight into war and spies and the World Scouting movement. His adventures clip along at a good rate. A storyteller but not a writer. I enjoyed the book.
I enjoyed this book. It was exciting and gave a whole new dimenstion to the man who started Boy Scouting. I did not know that he was a spy for the English during the war. It would be interesting for young people to read also. I was disappointed that the pictures, illustrations and maps mentioned do not show up on your as you read the book. I got this book for free from .
This is a good short read about Mr. Baden-Powell’s exploits as a spy. There is nothing in-depth but still interesting.
Baden-Powell is beloved by Americans who follow Scouting. I had no idea he had other adventures. Some will tell you his stories are apocryphal. If a spy or an observer is good at his job--there won't be a lot of evidence. As my grands would say, "Well, Duh!."
This was a good read. You have to love the old (Victorian) way of speaking and writing. My English teacher is probably rolling over in her grave to hear ME say that.
The author, Robert Baden-Powell, was a British soldier and spy, and founder of the Boy Scouts. The author's love of adventure is evident in this book, which is a collection of 1- and 2-page essays.
After a short series of essays defending espionage as being both useful and honorable, the remainder of the book explains spycraft of the time and particular incidents in which Baden-Powell directly participated. The stories are interesting, and would certainly appeal to many young readers. Occasional use is made of the author's own illustrations, including sketches of fortifications modified for secrecy to resemble much more benign subjects (insects, stained glass windows, etc.) which were spirited back to headquarters.
On a historical note, this book is reminiscent of other adventure books by European authors in roughly the same period (Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle).
Titles published by Dover tend to be inexpensive, and this book is no exception. Even at full retail, this book is a steal.
This small book written by the founder of the Boy Scouts in Great Britain is a fun read. Its interesting to find out these things about a real live spy before he became the champion of Boy Scouts.
